Hippocrates was a Greek physician of the Age of Pericles. Considered one of the most outstanding figures in medicine history. Believed disease had natural causes instead of being caused by the gods.
Ignaz Semmelweis is a Hungarian physician who discovered that the incidence of puerperal fever could be cut by the use of hand disinfection in clinics. Proposed this theory while working in a Vienna General Hopsital.
Joseph Lister, known as the father of antiseptic surgery. Professor of surgery at Glasgow University, he made surgeries more clean to prevent disease.
Jonas Salk attended medical school in New York. He helped develop a vaccination against pollo.
John-Snow Cholera was an English physician who was a leader in developing anesthesia and medical hygiene. Attended the University of London. He is considered one of the fathers of modern epidemiology .
Edward Jenner is known as the father of immunology. Created the worlds first vaccine, the small pox vaccine.
Louis Pasteur known as father of microbiology. Created first vaccines for rabies ams anthrax. Reduced morality from puerperal fever and created the technique called pasteration.
