Worship

What is worship?

• To ascribe worthy or value
• Denotes the worthiness of an individual
• Involves acknowledging God as perfect
• God is known by man and His perfection places Him above man

Differences between praise and worship

• Praise can be distant; worship is intimate
• Praise is seen and heard; worship can be quiet
• Worship is more private
• Praise is expressed through flesh
• Worship requires an unlocking of the spirit

Act of worship is learned

Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk , O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.

"Be still and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10

How is worship expressed?

• Does not need to be verbalized
• Worship involves meditating on God
• Worship is seeking the face of God

Getting to know Him

• Worship flows out of relationship
• Our relationship is strengthened by knowing His word

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence , Satan: for it is written , Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve . Matthew 4:10

I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. Isaiah 42:8
