Bedwetting

  • Issue that is extremely common

How to handle/cope with bedwetting:

  • Reassure your child that its normal and wont last forever.
  • Remind children to go to the bathroom before bed.
  • Use motivational reward (stickers)
  • Make sure they are hydrated throughout the day.
  • Avoid caffeine.

  • Don't yell at them when it happens
  • Let them help you change the sheets

Nightmares

  • Could happen by watching a frightening movie.
  • Trauma that happened during the day or past.
  • Problems at school or bullies.

How to handle nightmares

  • Don't let them watch inappropriate movies.
  • Use a security object (teddy bears)
  • Use a night light.
  • Teach them coping skills; being brave; happy place.
  • Use things that will make the scary thing less scary or weak.

  • Fights going to bed at night.
  • Lies awake during late hours.
  • Wanting to play when its time for bed.
  • Don't want to be alone.

  • Get there energy out before bed(exercise)
  • Read them a book to calm them down.
  • Warm milk lavender lotion.
  • Tucking them in spending time with them.
  • Make them look forward to the next day(activity)
