Population Prediction Problems

Published on Dec 16, 2015

Predicting population is important for me because resources and population are interdepend factors. The bigger the population, the greater the need for resources will be. I am truly scared for my future. The question of weather we will have enough to sustain is unclear. The fact that what happens if we run out is also a fear that my generation faces due to the expanding population.

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

POPULATION PREDICTION PROBLEMS

AKSHITA

COMPOUNDING PEOPLE

HIGHER FERTILITY RATE, POPULATION GROWING EXPONENTIALLY

PEOPLE MOVE

  • EMIGRATION DUE TO ECONOMIC REASON. REFUGEES MOVE OUT.
  • PEOPLE IMMIGRATE TO RICHER PLACES

CULTURAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • Religions like Catholicism and Islam support large families
  • Due to this, followers of the religion continue to have large families independent of transitional stage
  • For example: Mormons have large families even though they live in a developed nation (U.S.A)

GOVERNMENT POLICY

  • Exponential growth control :
  • CHINA'S ONE CHILD POLICY BECAME AN ECONOMIC INCENTIVE TO HAVE FEWER KIDS
  • The inverse effect:
  • GOVERNMENT INCENTIVE OF TAX BREAKS PROMOTES HAVING CHILDREN

CRONIC DISEASE AND NATURAL DISASTER

  • THIS DRAMATICALLY REDUCES POPULATION.
  • AIDS IN AFRICA AS PULLED LONGIVITY RATES THEREFORE DECREASING POPULATION
