TASMANIAN TIGER

WHAT WAS IT?

  • It was a large carnivorous marsupail
  • Now believed to be extinct. Only
  • Members of the family believed to survive
  • Modern times.

LOOK LIKE?

  • Sandy yellow-brown to grey
  • Had 15 to 20 distinct dark stripes
  • Across the back from shoulders
  • To tail.

WHAT DID THEY EAT?

  • Mostly kangaroos and other
  • Marsupials, small rodents
  • And birds.

WHERE IT LIVED?

  • Continental Australia
  • New Guinea
  • South of Tasmania

WHY IT BECAME EXTINCT?

  • Extinction- it was alleged
  • As a pest.

BABIES?

  • They were to bear around
  • Three young once a year,
  • During the winter-breeding
  • Season.

NEST?

  • It nested deep down in
  • Rocky caves or hollow logs.
