PURPOSE

  • To teach students the desirable trait of livestock today.
  • Students must observe details, see individual animals in context of class.
  • They must also be knowledgable of external anatomy, breed charters, and performance data.
  • Students will be able to select livestock that will satisfy the demands of th consumer.

  • 7 classes
  • 1 Breeding Beef, 1 Market Beef
  • 1 Breeding Swine, 1 Market Swine
  • 1 Breeding Sheep, 1 Market Lamb
  • 1 (Maket or Breeding) Goat

TIEBREAKER

  • The team with the highest score in six placing classes wins.
  • If still tied, the team with the highest alternate score wins.
  • If still tied, the advisor shall match for the high award. Ties for individual.

  • 3 or 4 individuals per team
  • All members will be scored
  • Top three scores count towards the team total
  • 12 minutes at each station
