BLACK GIRL AS BEST FRIEND.
Key influence 2:
When my parents used to kill hogs, had a black lady named Hattie Mae she was the kindest thing in the world, brought me cookies, and my first puppy. Like a grandmother. Better than my actual grandmother. Remained friends until she died, still keep in touch with her siblings.
Key influence 3:
Best friend's mom.
Thought the world of her. Had 7 children, all born in the house. I made her last two kids clothes because she couldn't afford to buy any.
Key influence 4:
Had a friend in Highschool, Deborah, passed notes back and forth. Another girl named Nola passed a note to me that said "are you a nogher-lover"
I passed a note back.

PROTEST PARTICIPATION
NONE.
When schools were integrated:
First black girl in class, 8th grade. I felt bad because nobody wanted to talk to her. It was the first year schools were integrated, so she was forced to go to school there.
View of "race"
Never been racist. I always thought that God created us equal. You shouldn't be labeled because of color or your lifestyle.
All of our blood runs red.
