  • Illness due to change of season

Be proactive and put supports into place before the negative behaviors surface.

What can we do?

  • Healthy snacks an hour before lunch & the end of day.
  • Brain breaks an hour and a half before lunch & the end of the day.

Make positive statements

  • Behavior improves by 80% by pointing out what's done correctly.
  • On average students hear 3 positive statements for every 45 negative statements.

Make positive statements

  • Shoot for 4 positive to 1 negative ratio.
  • Tell kids what to do not, what not to do.
  • Use a system to help yourself track your ratio.

  • Show empathy "I can see why...."
  • Give equal choices "Would you like to sit in the green chair or the blue chair.?

Build relationships

  • Focus on 9 minutes per day (Morning, lunch, end-of-day)
  • Teachers who greet have 45-72% less disruptions.
