He was a Greek philosopher.
He modeled the moon, sun, planets, and stars and other circles that surrounded us.
Thought earth went around the sun.
Also thought the stars changed positions as earth moved around.
Came up with parallax which is the sift of positions of a object.

He had a model of the solar system.
Nobody accepted his model of the solar system.
Attempted to measure the distance to the sun and the moon.
His attempt/observation was important to solve a scientific problem.

Lived in Alexandria, Egypt (part of Rome).
Made a book named Almagest. which was about observations of the planet.
Made a detailed model that was continued to be used by astronomers for the next 14 centuries.

thought Ptolemy's model was way too complicated.
He developed the first detailed heliocentric model of the solar system.
