THE FAULT IN OUR STARS

Setting The setting is in Indianapolis,Indiana. The time is 2012,and it is always sunny outside and there is always green grass! The sun and the grass help the reader understand their feelings. If it was a different setting and it was dark, the reader wouldn't feel as much of the positivity of the story.

Hazel is one of the main characters. Hazel has cancer in her lungs.She is always sad,depressed, but is happy sometimes!I picked these adjectives because she used to be sad and depressed until she met Augustus Waters. Then she became happy. 3 physical characteristics are short hair,big smile,and brown eyes!

Augustus Waters is also a main character. He has cancer in one of his legs. So one is fake! He has brown hair and brown eyes. He also always has a big smile on his face all the time!

I think that there are 2 conflicts. One conflict is Man .v.s. Nature. I think this because she has cancer in her lungs and she thinks that it's nature's fault!

The second conflict is Man .vs. Self. I think this because she also thinks that it's her lungs fault to. So she thinks that it's her lungs fault that she is crappy!

The plot is that Hazel and Agustas fall in love! They both have two different cancers. So they figure out life together!

The theme is not to give up on life or love! Before Hazel met Augustus she was depressed and sad all the time.

".....You need to make friends, get out of the house and live your life". "...I'm in love with you,he said quietly". "I'm in love with you , and I'm not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things".

The point of view is 1st person! Hazel is the one telling the story. This point of view helps the reader understand the book because it tells Hazels opinions and what it was like for her to struggle. She show the reader how her life is! If the point of view was different it wouldn't have as much details in the story! Also, it wouldn't show how she was living or all her opinions.

Agustas not lighting a cigarette symbolizes that he has power over his body! He says "They don't kill you unless you light them".

I would recommend this book to a lot of people. I would recommend it because in the book it shows you that you hold the power to make your life worth living for. This book is worth reading because it tells you true things about life and that you can make your own choices. Also to not give up in life.
