WHEN DID THE STEGOSAURUS LIVE?

• The Stegosaurus lived during the Jurassic Period.
• This was at least 150-155 million years ago... WOW!
• Where they lived is now is the Western North America.

WHATS THE USE FOR A PLATED BACK AND SPIKED TAIL?

• They have both of these so they can look scary.
• They want to look scary so they won't get eaten.
• The plates on their back are used for protecting themselves.
• The plates are also used for cooling down.
• Their tails are used for swinging to keep the predators away.

BTW WHAT DO THEY EAT?

• They are plant eaters.
• Mosses and ferns.
• Horsetails and cycads.
• Conifers and fruit.

HOW DO THEY GRIND FOOD?

• They swallow stones.
• The stones grind the food.

DOES A STEGOSAURUS HAVE TEETH?

• Actually they didn't have many teeth.
• That is what the stones are used for.
• They only have a toothless beak at the front of its mouth.
• They have small teeth in the sides of their cheeks.
