CHEMICAL WEATHERING

DEF: EROSION OF SOMETHING BECAUSE OF CHEMICAL REACTIONS. CHANGES THE SUBSTANCE OF THE OBJECT.

CHEMICAL WEATHERING

  • Changes substance of object
  • Appears in forms of rust on metal
  • Looks like it's changing the color of the rock
Definition: the erosion or disintegration or rock because of chemical reactions. Changes the substance of the rock.

WATER EROSION

DEF:the removal of surface material by water from the Earth's crust and transportation of the eroded materials from the point of removal.

WATER ERIOSION

  • Pick up materials and move is somewhere else
  • Rivers, beaches are good examples
  • Does not change what the object is made of

WIND EROSION

DEF: THE EROSION, TRANSPORTATION AND DEPOSITION OF TOPSOIL BY WIND

WIND EROSION

  • Doesn't change what the substance is made of
  • Only changes the size
  • Sand doons and the rock in this background is a good example

GLACIAL EROSION

DEF: OF SOIL OR ROCK FROM ONE POINT TO ANOTHER BY THE ACTION OF THE MOVING ICE OF A GLACIER. ALSO KNOWN AS ICE EROSIONDE

GLACIAL EROSION

  • Doesn't change the substance the rock is made of
  • Only changes and deforms the ground
  • Happens over a long period of time
