New Jersey was founded in 1664 by Lord Berkeley & Sir George Carteret
New Jersey was one of the middle Colonies
From 1664 to 1702 the colony was divided into East and West Jersey, which later became one royal colony
Dec. 18th, 1787- it became the 3rd U.S state of the 13 original colonies
Also referred to as the Garden State
