TIMELINE

What we've done this year (not in order)

KWL

  • The KWL list was helpful in organizing
  • our information

PAPER MODELS

  • We assembled small paper villages
  • using cutouts that were folded into houses.

MAPS (VILLAGE)

  • We grouped together, choose jobs
  • and drew maps of villages that mostly focused
  • on the workplace of our job.
  • As a farmer, I learned the importance of
  • placing the farm by a good source of water.

MAPS (ROUTES)

  • We routed the path that merchants
  • would take, while estimating how
  • long it took to get there.
  • From this, I learned how math is
  • involved in routing.

COAT OF ARMS

  • We designed and made our own coat of arms.
  • As bakers, Justin and I learned some of the symbols
  • and colors that bakers would have used on their coat of arms.

SHOES

  • We cut out, sewed together, and customized
  • our own shoes.
  • From this, I learned how shoes were made,
  • and how to measure it to fit your foot.

OUTBREAK

  • We simulated an outbreak using beans
  • with infected ones being marked.
  • After, we created a chart showing who died,
  • who was infected, and who stayed healthy
  • every month.

CATAPULTS AND CROSSBOWS

  • We built our own catapults and crossbows,
  • tested different sizes of ammo, and averaged
  • out how far each size shot.
  • I learned how to properly improve your design
  • using trial and error, and had fun building a prototype.

OTHER THINGS I LEARNED

  • The feudal system
  • Religous importance
  • Some thought to be "remedies for the plague".
  • How the poor made a living by working as farmers for
  • lords and vassals.
