Personal Background

  • Juan Pone de Leon was born in 1460 in Spain.
  • In 1521 he died from getting wooded by Indians then dying. 
  • Juan Ponce de Leon was cousins with Christopher Columbus  
  • Juan lived in Spain then went off and became a solider and an explorer.

  • He tried to find gold and the fountain of youth.
  • He tried to find Florida and did and he named Florida its name.

Dates of Exploration

  • He went with Columbus on his 2 voyage in 1493. 
  • In 1513 he went to Florida [Not Knowing]
  • In 1521 he returned to Florida to start a new settlement. 

Route of Exploration

  • He settled on a Caribbean island named Hispanida.  
  • He explored the Bahamas, and Florida also Pouter Rico and Cuba.
  • I found a map that showed where he traveled.
