War Party
As a member of the war party my stance is that we need to immediately go to war. I believe that we should be an independent country.

Constitution of 1824
We are in the state Coahuila because it allows more local control. Santa Anna overthrew the constitution and wants all the power for himself. We should not stand for Mexico breaking the Constitution. We should go to war immediately due to Mexico violating our rights granted in the Constitution of 1824

Law of April 6, 1830
The law that Mexico passed down to us is unacceptable due to the fact that they want to take our slaves, cancel all of our empesario contracts, ban immigration and put taxes on all imports from U.S. Under the Constitution of 1824 the law's provisions should have been a matter for the state not the national government. We need to go to war because Mexico is taking away our rights as Texans.

Anahuac Distubances
John Bradburn has come to Texas to take our slaves. He also arrested William Travis and Patrick Jack for trying to get William Logan's slaves back. We organized a group of angry colonists and traveled to Anahuac to get them freed. Bradburn lied to us and put the slaves in his home which is illegal. He is breaking the laws and needs to be arrested.

Turtle Bayou Resolutions
While waiting for the lawyers to get freed like Bradburn promised they wrote a list of grievances called the Turtle Bayou Resolutions. Which reasoned on why they acted the way they did when the lawyers got arrested. The grievances list disagreement of violations of constitution of 1824, interest in Santa Anna's resistance, support of Santa Anna's efforts, and invitation for support of all Texans. What was listed in the Turtle Bayou resolutions are some reasons why we need to go to war.

Battle of Velasco
After Austin loaded the cannon on our ship we sailed down the Brazos river towards the Gulf of Mexico When we reached Velasco they would not allow us to pass. Fighting broke out. The Mexican forces ran out of ammunition and we forced them to surrender. Once again they were refusing to cooperate with us. Which led to conflict and we won. We need to declare our independence.

Stephen F. Austin
We proposed resolutions during the conventions of 1832 and 1833 to establish a separate government and statehood for Texas. Mexican officials refused to send the resolutions to Mexico. Stephen F. Austin traveled to Mexico to deliver the resolutions and Santa Anna rejected separate statehood for Texas. While in Mexico he was arrested for treason and spent a year in jail. This fanned the flames of resistance.

In conclusion Texans should declare their independence from Mexico. “War is our only recourse. There is no other remedy. We must defend our rights, ourselves, and our country by force of arms.” - Stephin F. Austin
