- They were bred in Newfoundland
- They were referred to as the St. Johns water dog
- The breed started in the 1700's
- They joined the American Kennel Club (AKC) in 1917
- The breed was bred for hunting and swimming
A labrador is a good swimmer because of their webbed feet, and are good hunters because they learn how to retrieve easily

- They typically weigh 80 pounds
- They're height is usually 22-24 inches
- There are three main colors; black, yellow and chocolate
- with chocolate being the rarest and black being most common
- Eye colors are usually browns and hazel

- Labs are easy to train, but hard to housebreak
- They can be hyper
- They're sweet
- They tend to have separation anxiety
- They're patient with children
