Rough and aggressive fighters due to a life of hard farm work.
Extremely racist to blacks
Gray informal uniforms
Carried Muskets or Flint-Lock Rifles

UNION SOLDIERS

Dark blue much more formal and expensive uniforms
Uniforms thicker and had more protection
Wore Navy Blue caps with a visor to protect from sun
The soldiers were well fed and had personal hygiene kits
Still racist for the most part but tolerant of black people
