Location

  • Orgianlly from Arkansas
  • Forced to move to Oklahoma where they are currently living

Daily Life

  • Men- some were hunters while others went to fight
  • Women- usually did all the farming and building of family homes
  • Kids- did most of the chores around the tribe

Housing

  • Most Quapaw people lived in small square houses
  • The houses were made out of plaster and rivercane walls with thatched roofs
  • A whole family would live in one house

Food

  • Quapaw people were farmers amd hunters
  • Women worked to raise crops -corn -beans -squash
  • Men hunted deer and buffalo, they also fished in the small streams

Population

  • The populattion for the Quapaw Tribe is only 1,927

Transportation

  • The Quapaw people orginally used dogs pulling travios (a type of drag sled)
  • Soon they started riding horses

Clothing

  • Women wore long buckskin dresses
  • Men wore buckskin shirts with leather legging
  • Both male and female wore moccasins on their feet
  • On cold days they wore long buffalo-hide robes
