Malaysian English (Manglish)
is a portmanteau from the word Malay and English. This refers to the street English Malaysians use.

ENGLISH IN MALAYSIA

  • is divided into three categories;
  • Acrolect : near native, very tiny percentage of Malaysian.
  • Mesolect : an intermediate dialect or variety of a particular language (used especially in the study of Creoles).
  • Basilect : lowest register of a spoken language. In a post-creole community, it is the dialect that most closely resembles the creole.

features of the language

  • Has components of American English, Malay, Chinese, Indian and other languages ; vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar.
  • The /t/ phoneme in words like butter is usually not flapped or realized as a glottal stop.
