PRESENTATION OUTLINE
In a sentence, an appositive adds additional information about a noun.
The appositive is often set off from the rest of the sentence by commas.
Susan, the girl with the curly hair, always sat in the back of the classroom.
The most important thing to remember is that the appositive gives more information about the noun.
"Ms. Jones waved to the children, as they walked to school" is not an appositive.
If an appositive is removed from the sentence, the sentence will still make sense.
Open up your paragraph about the historical accuracy of Pocahontas. Add an appositive to this paragraph.
