- end problems created by alcohol

EVENTS AND ACTIONS OF TEPERANCE MOVEMENT

  • Tracts, dramas, songs, and illistrations on liquor influenced fall and redemption movements
  • Lyman beecher, a connecticut minister, lectured against all liquor
  • Maine was the first statewide alcohol abomination in 1851
  • 12 states and territories out lawer alcohol
  • In 1826 the american temperance society was born by 1835 20% of the free adult population was part of it

Now there are alcohol free hotels and boats, there are anti-drinking laws and pledges in employment, it was banned in some states, moral reform and temperate societies were formed.

The fact that many people stood up for their beliefs essentially gave women a little more leverage. Women and children were the people in the poor conditions if alcohol abuse. While by no means did they achieve the goal of totally abolishing alcohol they did in fact change life then, for 12 states banned in. Today was also impacted. Even watching tv and you're bombarded with no drinking and driving commercials. Therefore because these people had stood up it saved many lives on the roads and with in homes.
