WHAT IS IT?

  • Textual Evidence is evidence used to support an argument or position.

WHEN DO YOU USE IT?

  • When writing about literature, the text is the source of evidence. To present a persuasive essay the writer must demonstrate that the writer knows the text.

HOW DO YOU USE IT?

  • Look within the text and find the evidence that supports your statement, you must site it.
  • Example: "Quote" (Author Page #)

WHY DO YOU USE IT?

  • Presenting quotations which support each point of the essay and it shows how the writers has credibility.
