Standardized Testing

Claim

• Standardized testing has not yet to improve student achievement 
• The US slipped from 18th in math to 31st, once introduced.
• Standardized testing doesn't measure student performance.
• They only measure a small portion of what's meaningful.
• Instruction time is being consumed by test preparation. 

Counter Claim

• Standardized tests are  objective measures of student achievement.
• Standardized tests ensure content is equivalent for all students.
• China's tradition of testing leads the world in educational achievement
• Proponents argue that standardized tests are a fair and objective 
•  measure of student ability,

REBUTTAL:
Although people on the proposition to standardized testing may believe that they have content for all students, and are objective measure for student achievement. Critics of the NCLB say that there is immense pressure on school officials, teachers, students, and parents. That pressure to succeed makes a poor environment for learning.
