Suspense is what makes the reader want to read more.

IT WAS THERE, I FELT IT.

Make them keep reading to find out what it was that you felt.

Dialogue

Start with an important conversation that you had with a person.

"WHY GEORGE, WHY?" I SCREAMED.

They will want to keep reading to find out what George did.

Starting off with sound.

They will think about what things make that sound. They will know that your narrative will be full of description.

WHACK!! THE BALL HIT ME RIGHT IN THE FACE.

The reader will read on to find out why and where the ball came from.
