CONTINENTAL CONGRESS

• The continental congress was a convention of delegates
• Called the 13 original colonies
• The new congress in July 1776 gave unanimous vote on independence
• Then issued the Declaration of Independence as a new nation

FRANCE PROVIDES COVERT AID TO AMERICANS

• American revolution war began in 1775
• France organized secret supplies and they prepared themselves for war against Britain.
• France and Spain got together to fight Britain for naval dominance.
• Provided significant economic aid either as donations or loans.
• Also provided military aid.
