PUBLIC WORKS ADMINISTRATION (PWA)

PWA ESTABLISHMENT

  • June 16, 1933

PURPOSE

  • It was created in response to the Great Depression
  • It's purpose was to create projects paid by the government to help revive the economy from the Great Depression

AFFECTS/BENEFITS

  • A benefit is the PWA built schools, hospitals, bridges, and dams for communities
  • It affected people who didn't have jobs because the PWA gave them jobs

SUCCESSFUL?

  • The PWA was successful because the PWA funded more than 34,000 projects
  • Some of those 34,000 projects included airports, electricity-generating dams, and aircraft carriers

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE TODAY

  • It ended in June 1941 because FDR moved industry toward war production and left his opposition to a sum of money that is too small, the PWA became not connected and abolished the PWA
