  • Born February 15th, 1564 in Pisa Italy
  • Died January 8th, 1642
  • Main Occupation was as an astronomer
  • Went to the University of Pisa

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS/EVENTS

  • Discovered 4 of Jupiter's major moons
  • First person to look at the moon through a telescope
  • Accused of heretic because of his public belief of the Copernicus theory and almost sentence to death
  • publishes a paper on the center of gravity in solids, given position as lecturer at the University of Pisa.
  • Built an improved version of the telescope at his time, Demonstrates it to Rome.
