Virginia Plan
a plan, Constitutional Convention, providing for a legislature of two houses with proportional representation in each house and executive and judicial branches to be chosen by the legislature.

REPRESENTATION
Virginia Plan Representation should be determined by population.

The New Jersey Plan was a proposal for the structure of the United States Government presented by William Paterson at the Constitutional Convention on June 15, 1787.

The New Jersey plan is equal like they want everything to be equal

Great Compromise is when the put both the Virginia and the New Jersey plan into effect.

North
The northern states did not want all the slaves counted toward population because that would take representation away from the North, but that was outweighed by the North's attempts to shift the burden of taxation off themselves.

South
had their slaves count in their total population, the southern states would have a higher percentage of congressmen in the House of Representatives.

3/5 Compromise
The 3/5 Compromise stated that a slave would count as 3/5 of a person in terms of both taxation and representation.

Federalists
a member or supporter of the Federalist Party.
captured both the legislative and the executive branches of the federal government from the Federalists.

Anti-Federalists
like Jefferson and Franklin did not oppose the adoption of the Constution entirely. They feared a federal govt with unlimited King Like Powers and wouldn't agree to it until there was a Bill of Rights added to protect the people!

Ratification
Is a principal's approval of an act of its agent where the agent lacked authority to legally bind the principal. The term applies to private contract law, international treaties, and constitutions in federations such as the United States and Canada.
