DEFINITIONS

  • Immunology: Scientific study of the immune system functions
  • Immune: Protection from disease
  • Pathogen: Germs

The IMMUNE SYSTEM uses biological defense mechanisms of organs and vessels, which the body is equipped to repulse both foreign attacks.

MAIN ORGANS

(LYMPHOID ORGANS)

Tonsil: filter out potentially dangerous germs and bacteria

Spleen: it stores defense cells that are later released into the blood to get to organs. Also responsible for getting rid of red blood cells and blood clotting

ANOTHER SYSTEM THAT HELPS

THE IMMUNE SYSTEM

The Digestive System

The pathogens (germs) that enter through food are usually stopped by stomach acids.

HOW IT RELATES TO:

HOMEOSTASIS

The IMMUNE SYSTEM prepares the body for healing purposes incase something harmful takes place internally or externally.
