1ST CRUSADE

• Seljuk Turks conquered Jerusalem.
• Alexius asked Pope Urban II for troops.
• In 1095 Pope Urban made a speech at Clermont.

-Result of Crusade-
Religion has driven the two sides to war, Christians took control of Jerusalem.

2ND CRUSADE

MAJOR PARTICIPANTS

• King Louis VII
• King Conrad III
• Bernard of Clairvaux

MAJOR EVENTS

• The Turks, conquered the county of Edeesa.
• Bernard of Claivaux Inspired Western Europeans to defend
• the crusader states against the Muslims.
• King Louis VII of France and King Conrad III of Germany led
• the armies of the second crusade.

-Result of Crusade-
The Muslims defeated the Turks, due to the German, and French army not cooperating

3RD CRUSADE

MAJOR PARTICIPANTS

• Saladin
• Frederick I
• King Richard I
• King Philip II

MAJOR EVENTS

• The Muslims kept attacking the Christians in the Holy Land.
• Saladin easily defeated the Christian army, and entered Jerusalem.

-Result of Crusade-
Richard attempted to take control of Jerusalem and failed, He made a treaty to Saladin and he allowed Christian pilgrims to enter Jerusalem freely.

4TH CRUSADE

MAJOR PARTICIPANTS

• Fulk of Neuil
• Pope Inncoect III

MAJOR EVENTS

• The pope launches a new crusade againts
• the Egyptians who were in Jerusalem.
• Crusaders attacked them selves.

-Result of Crusades-
Conquring of Jerusalem did not occur.

The Movie Kingdom of Heaven was more History in my opinion, due to the scenes in the movie were true to how it was in the 12th century, there was only a few things that i found to be fake.

From the 1st Crusade to the 4th, I think the motives changed by at first they wanted to go on Crusades, due to being told they where guaranteed a spot in heaven, and that all their Sins would be removed, as in later it was more about revenge, and wanting more land and power.

In my opinion the greatest result of the crusades was that the crusaders gained more knowledge, due to Christians learning numbers, some alphabet, utensils, decoration, and machinery.
