PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Why it's wanted: The White Spotted Jellyfish is wanted because it has been notorious for preying on native species around it, specifically plankton, which causes the other organisms around these animals to not have enough food. They also negatively impacts the shrimp industry because it clogs nets and damages fishing equipment.
What other species has it harmed?: It has harmed the microscopic zooplankton population, which has indirectly harmed the fish, crustacean, and marine mammal population because they cannot find sufficient food since the white spotted jellyfish have eaten it all.
How it made it to the “scene of the crime”: The white spotted jellyfish was first discovered in 1981 in California, and it is believed that they were first introduced from the Pacific Ocean through the Panama Canal on the hulls of ships.
What's being done to apprehend the criminal: Currently there are no measures being taken to apprehend the criminal that are recorded.
How the criminal gets around from crime to crime: The White Spotted Jellyfish mostly stays in the same area although if the criminal does travel, it does so by swimming or by being pushed by the currents of the ocean.
