CLINICAL PROCEDURES
A skin test is a test in which a suspected allergen or sensitizer is applied or injected into the skin
Intradermal is a skin test for allergens that is subcutaneously injected into the skin
Patch is a skin test for allergies in food, pollen or animal fur.
Scratch ( prick) a skin test that tests for allergies by placing a small quantity os allergen and lightly scratched

Surgical Procedures
A biopsy is a tissue sample removed for microscopic examination
Needle is removing a small tissue for examination using a hollow needle
Punch is removing a small core of tissue using a hollow punch
Removing elevated lesions with a surgical blade is called a shave
Frozen section is an ultra-thin slice of tissue from a frozen specimen

Therapeutic Procedures
Chemical Peel-- Chemical removal of the outer layer of skin
Debridement-- removal of necrotized tissue From a wound.
Dermabrasion-- Rubbing using wire brushes to remove the epidermis
Fulguration-- destruction of tissue by using electric current
Cryosurgery-- using liquid nitrogen to freeze and destroy abnormal tissue

PROCEDURES
Skin graft- Surgical procedure to transplant healthy tissue by applying it to an injured site
Allograft- transplantation of healthy tissue from one person to another person also called homografts
Autograft- transplantation of healthy tissue from one site to another site in the same individual
Synthetic- transplantation of artificial skin produced from collagen fibers arranged in a lattice pattern
Xenograft- transplantation (dermis only) from a foreign donor (pig) and transferred to a human
