Habits

• They eat freshwater inverterbrates.
• During the day whio generally hide in caves or hollow logs near the river.
• They are mostly active during the evening and early morning.
• Whio lay eggs between august and october.

Threats

• The main predators of the Whio are stoats,possums,cats,dogs and weasels

• Whio like fast flowing water and rocky grassy embankments. Whio also like invertabrate communitys

• Their has been a crack down on people dumping stuff in rivers.
• you could leave your dog at home.
• Dont get to close to the whio.

Appearance

• They blend in with rocks.
• Females genrally weight 800 grams and males weight about 1 kilogram. Males genrally live longer as they weight more than females.
