DIRECT VARIATION

  • Y varies directly with x ( or: x and y are directly proportional) if there is a constant k such that : y=kx

INVERSE VARIATION

  • Y varies inversely with x ( or: x and y are inversely proportional ) if there is a constant k such that: y=k/x

LINEAR FUNCTIONS

  • Linear Functions are those whose graph is a straight line
  • A linear function has one independent variable and one dependent variable
  • The independent variable is the x and the dependent is y

SYSTEMS OF EQUATIONS

  • System of Equations is a collection of two or more equations with a same set of unknowns
  • When solving a system of equations , we try to find values for each of the unknowns that will satisfy every equation in the system
  • The equations in the system can be linear or non-linear

TRANSFORMATIONS

  • transformation is a general term for four specific ways to manipulate the shape of a point, a line, or shape
  • The original shape of the object is called the pre-image and the final shape and position of the object is the image under the transformation

A quadratic function is a second-degree polynomial function of the form , where a, b, and c are real numbers and . Every quadratic function has a “u-shaped” graph called a parabola.
