WHO?

  • The machine gun was originally designed by Hiram maxim.
  • The gun was first used by the germans in 1914 against Britain.

THE WAR

  • The 1914 machine gun was too heavy too cary.
  • Therefore it was positioned on a flat tripod,
  • This allowed them to spray down a large group without leaving
  • The Trench.

WHEN

  • The war began in 1914.
  • And lasted 4 years
  • Then ended in 1918

THE DESIGN

  • In 1914, all infantry battalions were equipped with a machine gun section of two guns.
  • Which was changed to four in 1915.
  • The idea of this gun was to take down as many enemies as possible.
  • So the larger magazine allowed for more power and a better probability of
  • Hitting something or someone.
