Michael or mike as they call him was an average christian young man. But Mike wanted to grow his faith in Jesus Christ. So Mike decided he was going to bike from Ohio to San Francisco, to see what God would provide for him. Mike wanted to grow his faith in christ.
In the book mike was, brave, joyful, daring, friendly, and showed companionship. I thought that Mike was brave because he depended on god to protect him even though it is a dangerous journey. I thought mike was joyful because god always provided him a place to stay, money to help, and food to eat. I thought Mike was also daring because he asked for a place to stay at random peoples homes. I thought that would take a lot of guts to do that! I also thought that Mike was friendly because he made lots of friends on his trip and everyone loved him. In the text, two of Mikes good friends Adam and Christy, said that Mike showed good companionship. They said that Mike showed good companionship because he always wanted to stay together and Adam and Christy enjoyed that. (all of the characteristics are indirect except for companionship)
Mike is a dynamic character in the book because in the beginning of the book Mike was starting his trip. As soon as he started he got buried in worries and was about to turn around when he felt a lift and kept going. At the end of the book he was a full follower of god and god had provided everything he needed. Mike was enjoying his trip and was going to miss his adventure. He came from some broke biker dude to a follower of god. This is why it he was a dynamic character.
I think the theme is be the good samaritan. I think this is the theme because Mike was a good samaritan in the book and he not only finished his trip, he made friends and helped lots of lives on his trip.
