DIABETES

DIFFERENCES

  • Type 1: doesn't make insulins in your pancreas.
  • Type 2: doesn't provided enough insulins needed.
  • Born with Type 1, diagnose with Type 2.

AGE OF ONSET

  • Type 1: usual age of onset is under the age of 20.
  • Type 2: usual age of onset is over the age of 40.
  • Cases of Type 1 DM: 10-15%
  • Cases of Type 2 DM: 85-90%

SYMPTOMS

  • Type 1: rapid, obvious symptoms
  • Ex. Constant Urination, weigh loss, increased in thirst, blurred visions.
  • Type 2: slow, little/zero symptoms, similar to Type 1.
  • Ex. Constant Urination, genial itchiness, increased in thirst, some weigh gain or loss.

COMPLICATIONS

  • Amputations
  • Blindness
  • Diabetic Coma
  • Heart attacks
  • Strokes

TREATMENT

  • Type 1: not control by oral medications.
  • Type 2: controlled by oral medications first.
  • Type 1: can be controlled by insulin shots*
  • Type 2: not controlled by insulin shots at first but could be use later on
  • Controlled sugar level, daily exceriss, healthy eating habit, maintain weigh.
