• expect their orders to be obeyed without explanation
• Punishment is enforced

EFFECTS

• harder time accepting themselves
• Children rarely learn to think on their own
• Develop a fear of failure (do to pressure)
• Develop a resentment of authority

Democratic

• family are all equals, with the parents being the ones that carry out what needs to be done.
• Both can come to terms on rules and punishments for the rules.
• parents provide children with reasons to their rules
• which establishes a sense of meaning behind why rules are made

EFFECTS

• sense of how rules work & consequences for breaking rules.
• provide children with reasons
• Helps the child understand how the system works

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

• both these parenting styles have a significant impression on the child.
• Assuming the first two tiers of the hierarchy of needs are met, .
• third tier which involves family can be affected by a parenting style

BEHAVIORAL, HUMANISTIC, & COGNITIVE CONTEMPORARY APPROACHES.

• behavioral, the style of parenting can affect how a child behaves at home & at school
• humanistic, the kind of environment the style of parenting creates can have an impact on the development of the child
• cognitive , the style of parenting plays an important role in child development.

Both parenting styles have impact in the CNS because
they affect a child's behavior, emotion, and thoughts.

Both styles would be effective, but the
authoritarian style hinders the child's growth & development & the
democratic style is very hard to keep consistent. As a society, we feel that the democratic is the most conducive &
appropriate style, but the authoritarian style is usually the simplest & most
common style. It might be a matter of opinion, but from our research you can see
the democratic style clearly beats the authoritarian style.
