PRESENTATION OUTLINE

NAZI ELECTORAL BREAKTHROUGH

In the 1930 Reichstag elections, the Nazi Party won 107 seats in the Reichstag, making them the second largest party.
This was a significant increase from 810,000 votes in 1928 to 6,409,600 in 1930

Their success was partly a result of propaganda directed at rural and middle class voters.
The electorate had grown by 1.8 million, the Nazis were successful in gaining a proportion of first time voters

The Depression had radicalised German politics and society.
It seemed to many that democratic and moderate parties were unable to solve the problems faced by Germany. The DDP and DVP lost 20 seats between them

Many Germans turned towards extremist groups such as the Nazis and the Communists. Left wing parties such as the SPD decreased to 24.5% while the KPD increased to 13.1%
