THE AMENDMENT

  • Excessive Bail shall not be required
  • No excessive fines imposed
  • No cruel and unusual punishment

MY OPINION

  • Government can not abuse there power
  • Law enforcement will respect individuals
  • And the rights
  • Individuals will not charged with extreme fines

HISTORICAL EVENTS

  • March 3rd
  • Congress establishes U.S. Mint
  • March 4th
  • Vermont admitted as 14th state

The 8th amendment was created because the founding father wanted to protect the people against unfair treatment by the government based off of treatments by the British.

Powell was arrested for being drunk in public and was charged for being a chronic alcoholic and subject to compulsion
