Climate
A tropical climate can be observed in Nicaragua.
Just as in the other Central American countries, there are two seasons.
The dry and the raining season.
During the dry season, there is virtually no rain and trees and plants start to dry out.
Dry season is from January through June.

HISTORY
Derived it's name from the chief of the area's leading Indian tribe at the time of the Spanish Conquest.
First settled by the Spanish in 1522.
Nicaragua won independence in 1838.
For the next century, Nicaragua's politics were dominated
by the competition for power between the Liberals.

Republican
President is Daniel Ortega.
He is both head of state, and government.
Executive power is exercised by the government.
The magistrates of both the Supreme Court and the Supreme Electoral Council are appointed by the President.

EDUCATION
Education is free in Nicaragua.
In most schools (exceeding elementary), they wear uniform.
They contribute to school fees, which cover basic supplies.
They attend school in shifts since many kids work to supplement their family's income.
Their schooling is very limited due to lack of money and adequate facilities.

CULTURE
Most Nicaraguans are Mestizos.
Spanish is their first language.
They refer to themselves as Nicas, Nicoyas, and Pinoleros.
Music and Religious culture were deeply influenced by Iberian culture.
They (obviously) have really weird weddings.

Soccer is the most famous sport.
But in the mid-20th century, it was Baseball.
Nicaragua is considered Central America's "Tropical Paradise."
