Scoring

  • Scoring is completed manually by the paraprofessional
  • Takes about 2-3 minutes to tally up the scores for all 5 areas tested
  • There is not a set basal or ceiling
  • There is a cut off score for each scoring sheet according to the child's age

Example of Cutoff

Scoring

  • Scores are either at cutoffs, close to cutoffs, or below cutoffs
  • Dark shaded areas 2 standard deviations below the mean cutoff score of development
  • Lightly shaded (monitoring zone)- developed to address concerns about careful monitoring

Scoring

  • If a child's score is in the darkly shaded region than further assessment is needed
  • If a child falls within the lightly shaded region (monitoring zone)
  • 1.Provide learning activities in the specific area of development
  • 2.Refer child for further assessment
  • 4.Retesting should occur within 4 to 6 months

How to calculate scores

  • Scoring is based on parents responses which can be: yes, sometimes, and not yet
  • Yes equals 10
  • Sometimes equals 5
  • Not yet equals 0
  • Once categories are tallied the scores are represented on bar graphs completed by the professional
