FEDERALIST

Definition- an advocate or supporter of federalism and a member or supporter of the Federalist Party.

What it mean- an advocate of a federal union between the American colonies after the Revolution and of the adoption of the United States Constitution.

Example- new healthcare law and new regulations on credit cards.

Why is it important today- Federalism allows people living in different states with different needs and different interests to set policies suited to the people in their state.

Purpose- the federalist is a collection of 85 articles and essays that are written by Alexander Hamilton and many more promoting the ratification of the U.S. Construction.

Word in a sentence- They all made their pitch for federalism based on their varying ethnic or religious claims with some justification.
