Napoleon is sent to military school

when the royalist revolted and walked on the national convention, a government official told him to protect the delegates Napoleon and his gunners shot at the royalist with a cannonade

  • he was appointed to lead the troops to fight the troops of Austria, and the kingdom of Sardinia
  • He won a series of battle

  • the directory lost control of the political situation and the confidence of the people
  • his troops surrounded the national legislature, and the remaining lawmakers voted to dissolve the directory
  • Britain,Austria, and Russia all joined forces to take over France

1802

  • they signed a peace treaty and all of the the country were at peace Napoleon had time to focus on restoring France
  • Desperate for strong leadership, the people voted large in favor of the constitution
  • Napoleon set up an efficient method of tax collection and established a national banking system
  • In addition to ensuring the government a steady income of tax money, these actions promoted sound financial management and better control of the economy
  • He thought that his greatest work was his code of laws known as the napoloenic laws.

  • Napoleon was crowned in Notre Dame cathedral

1805

  • after the battle of Austerlitz he made a proclamation about his pride in his troops
  • With his success on the battlefield he forced the British, Austria, and Russia to sign a peace treaty
  • Napoleon only lost one of the battles for Europe which was the battle of trafalgar
  • The French empire was huge but only lasted five years

  • Setup blockades to prevent all trade and communication between Great Britain and other European countries

THE U.S. DECLARE WAR ON BRITAIN

1808

  • He brought an invasion force through Spain
  • Britian aids Spain
  • France eventually lost the Pennisula War

1812

  • Napoleon made his biggest mistake
  • He invaded Russia
  • In June 1812 Russian troops retreat from the battle but they burn all the grain and kill all the livestock so French troops have nothing to eat
  • September 7 the armies finally clash
  • Russians once again retreat and burn down there fabulous city of Moscow

  • In October the French army starts heading home
  • In November, the Russians ambush the retreating French army
  • The French army lost alot of men
  • The powers of Europe team up and declare war on France

OCTOBER 1813

  • Allied forces easily defeat Napoleons inexperienced army

  • The allied forces march towards Paris

  • Napoleon surrenders and hives up his throne
  • The allied forces banish him to an island called Ellban

  • Napoleon escapes Elban and washes up on the shores of France

JUNE 18, 1815

  • Napoleon builds up an army and attacks Britian and Prussia
  • Britian and Prussian forces chase Napoleons army away from the field
  • This defeat ended Napoleons last bid for power
  • They shipped Napoleon to a remote island called St. Helena to stop any future problems from Napoleon
