  • Soon the figured out that they worked
  • February 1 1960 first sitdown in Georgia
  • July 25 1960 the counter is desegregated
  • MLK participates in sit in and is arrested

PROTESTS

  • Blacks take buses that only allow whites
  • Many people in jail
  • Jails get so full that people can no love nger go to jail
  • This was the most violent nonviolent protest
  • People were killed so whites could have a spot on the bus

  • James Meredith
  • First black student @ University of Mississippi
  • Caused riots protests and life threats
  • 5,000 troops are sent to stop violence
