1873: First nursing school opens at Bellevue Hospital in New York.
1881: Clara Barton founded America Red Cross
1886: The Nightingale, first American nursing journal.
1902: Ellen Dougherty of New Zealand becomes first RN in world.
1908: US NAVY NURSE CORPS
Present: Nurses are educated, licensed, regulated and professional. Nurses have come to not only care for the physical being of a person but to care for that person spiritually and emotionally.
CAREER PATHWAY
I want to be a pediatric nurse and to become that I need a plan. I will go to Gadsden State next year to play volleyball and go into their pre-nursing program. After I will attend a university to get my Bachlor's.

Begin by coming a RN
Additional training to take care of children
Enroll I'm Bachlor's degree program in nursing.

After taking and passing exam you are awarded RN-Board Certified
FUTURE OUTLOOK
Over the next five years to November 2018 the number of rn's is expected to be high. Employment rose very strongly in the long-term years also.
SHORT & LONG TERM
My short term goals are to attend GSCC next year and enroll in their pre nursing program. After that I will attend a university and get my Bachlor's. My long term goal is to be a pediatric nurse at Children's Hospital.
