In September of 1875 Frederic Auguste Partholi hired Maurice Koechlin to engineer the Statue of Liberty.

Partholi made the Statue of Liberty as a gift to America, in spirit of France and America's 100 years of lasting peace. He started to build in 1875 and finished in 1884. He showed the Statue of Liberty to France on July 4,1884. They sent it to America as soon as they could. Partholi sent it to America in 214 wooden crates via sea liners.
