HAN DYNASTY

THE BEGINNING

• Lui Bang was the first emperor of the Han dynasty.
• Lui Bang called the dynasty Han to honor his native land.

HAN WUDI

• Han Wudi built an imperial university that prepared young men. The Confucian educational system was the name of the system used.
• Han Wudi had a foreign policy of imperial expansion. He conquered northern Vietnam and Korea. The hardest challenge that Han faced in foreign policy was dealing with the Xiongnu.

LAND AND REFORM

• The land in the Han dynasty was owned by the wealthy class. This resulted in social tention and rebellion.
• The most important reform that Wang Mang issued was the land property reform. This reforn stated that only a certain amount of land can be given to a family. The resultof this was tensions rising between the landlords and the goverment. Ultimately Wangs people revolted against him ending his dynasty.
