FATS:

- Fats are greasy substances ( Either solid or liquid, that do not dissolve in water. )
- Liquid fats are called oils.
- Why fats are needed? ( They have many important functions towards the body, only good fats.)
- Structure of fats: Fatty acid, Saturated fatty acid.
- Essential fatty acid is what your body needs but cannot be made.

- Fat digestion: The digestive system breaks down fat by a complex series of steps
- A fat unit is called a lipoprotein
Cholesterol: Is a fat like substance in cells.
-Fat can cause LDL and HDL
- Being on a diet can affect your cholesterol when you've already eaten so much fat
- Different kinds of fat ( not all fats are bad ): Saturated fat/ Polyunsaturated fat/ Monounsaturated fat/ Trains fats / Hydrogenation/ Trains fats

Vitamin C: Ascorbic Acid
Where can we find it in?
Citrus fruits, including oranges, grapefruit, and tangerines; other fruits, including cantaloupe, guava, kiwi, mango, papaya, and strawberries; vegetables, including bell peppers, broccoli, cabbage, kale, plantains, potatoes, and tomatoes.

What is its function?
Vitamin C can help maintain healthy capillaries, bones, skin, and teeth. Vitamin C is necessary for the enzyme that forms and takes care of protein called collagen. Vitamin C helps your body heal wounds and resist infections. It also aids in the absorption of iron and works as an antioxidant.

What happens if it is deficient?

Lack of Vitamin C can cause poor appetite, weakness, bruising, and soreness in joints. A severe lack of Vitamin C causes a disease called scurvy. Large doses of Vitamin C can cause nausea, cramps, and diarrhea.

Fat-Soluble Vitamins

We can find it in:
Green leafy vegetables;other vegetables; some fruits.

What is its function?
Vitamin K helps blood clot so that wounds stop bleeding, it also helps with bone health.

What happens if it is deficient?
Vitamin K's deficiency and toxicity is rare in people who eat a healthy diet. Though it
can also cause defective coagulation, and potentially bleeding.

FOOD SOURCES OF A MAJOR MINERAL

Magnesium:
Deficiency is uncommon because magnesium can be found in many foods including nuts, yogurt, beans, dairy products, bananas, and raisins. If you do have a deficiency it can lead to anxiety, panic attacks, detoxification, heart disease,diabetes, asthma, and dizziness.

Iron:
People who have an iron deficient have an unusual appetite for ice, clay, or a nonfood item. It usually goes away when the iron deficiency is fixed.
